Rochester, Minn. – Somerby Golf Club and OB Sports recently appointed Kurtis Pitcher as the General Manager for this award-winning private club in Byron, Minnesota. Pitcher is responsible for all club operations, golf operations, food and beverage, marketing, merchandising, tournaments, special events, budgeting, aquatics, and staff training for this club that is consistently honored by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the top ten best courses in the State of Minnesota.
A proven industry leader, Pitcher has over three decades of club management experience. Prior to joining Somerby, Pitcher was the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer at the prestigious Woodhill Country Club in Wayzata, Minnesota (from 2006 though 2010). In addition, Pitcher served as the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer at Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan (2000 to 2006) and held general manager positions at Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas (1997 to 2000), at Shanandoah Country Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1994-1997) and at Quail Run Country Club County Club in Sante Fe, New Mexico (1989-1994). Earlier in his career, he held Fitness Director positions at The Maroon Creek Country Club in Aspen, Colorado (1985-1988) and Snowmass Club in Snowmass, Colorado (1981-1982), also serving in various management capacities at Hotel Lenado (1984) and Aspens Institute Heather Center in Aspen, Colorado (1983). Pitcher is a “Certified Club Manager” and is a member of both the Club Managers Association and International Wine Society. He holds a bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.
