New York, NY (July 19, 2011) – A summer Friday escape that you can experience with your children is headed to Chelsea Piers Golf Club on Friday, July 22 from 3-7PM when The Family Golf Challenge comes to New York City for its first and only Manhattan stop this year. Two-person teams comprised of adults and juniors will test their skills in Long Drive and Putting Challenges.
The Family Golf Challenge is an amateur skills competition designed to introduce more women and children to the sport of golf. The Family Golf Challenge has already held events this summer at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY, Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx, Galloping Hill Golf Course in NJ and Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in CT.
The event not only brings the family together but also gets them involved in a charitable cause. The First Tee of Metropolitan New York charity has been designated the Event Beneficiary and will receive $5.00 of each $15.00 registration fee.
“Chelsea Piers Golf Club, located on Pier 59 at 18th Street overlooking the Hudson River is one of the most highly-populated golf centers in the region and an ideal location to introduce families to the event while at the same time, benefitting The First Tee of Metropolitan New York,” said Bill Carroll, President and CEO of The Family Golf Challenge. “We encourage everyone to make an early Friday departure from work and head over with their kids and participate in the challenge.”
Whether you are an avid golfer or, new to the game, the program is designed to engage teams comprised of adults and kids (7-17) in a fun, rewarding and philanthropic experience. Teams will compete in 12 separate categories and the winners of 10 local events in the Tri-State region will advance to a regional playoff in September.
