COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 25, 2011) – Boxgroove (www.boxgroove.com), an inventive, reliable online network offering golfers the opportunity to play private golf courses of their choosing, has welcomed Nashville Golf & Athletic Club in the foothills of Brentwood, Tenn., to the list of private courses Boxgroove members can play.
“The history, challenge and beauty of this golf course make it one Boxgroove members won’t want to miss,” said McRedmond Morelli, founder and CEO of Boxgroove.
About Nashville Golf & Athletic Club
Nashville Golf & Athletic Club may have had its beginnings in the late eighteenth century. In the spring of 1786, Andrew Crockett, an uncle of the famous woodsman Davy Crockett, unsheathed his ax and began clearing a tiny knoll in the lush countryside of middle Tennessee. Andrew and his wife, Nancy, had just received a land-grant deed to 640 acres and had chosen the site for their new home. In the 10th year after the War of Independence, the pioneer spirit was flourishing.
Now, over 200 years later, a few of the saplings that covered the Crocketts’ knoll have grown to maturity. Their limbs spread shade across a putting green nestled in front of the centerpiece of the club. One section of the historic structure, where legend says Andrew Crockett fought off an Indian attack to protect his family, has been restored as the clubhouse library. The serene historic clubhouse has been renovated with antiques gathered from Ireland and Scotland, furnishing the flavor for a demanding 187-acre tract that offers golfers challenges reminiscent of the intensity and dedication of those early pioneers. The 10,000-square-foot clubhouse totally preserves the original chestnut log homestead built by the Crockett family. A small but evocative link to the past is the Crockett family cemetery, carefully preserved by the Nashville Golf & Athletic Club.
The award-winning golf course features a breathtaking panorama of the beautiful countryside and hills of Tennessee, representing a lovely series of opportunities for golfers. The flexibility of the challenge is apparent and the thrill of a well-struck shot is rewarded on the par-72 journey.
“Nashville Golf & Athletic Club is truly ‘a golfing experience reminiscent of a gentler age,'” said Brian Jorgenson, PGA, director of golf at the club. “We are pleased to partner with Boxgroove.”
