Multi-Phase Project to Enhance Social, Golf Experience at Premier Tallahassee Daily Fee Course
(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) – SouthWood Golf Club – the award-winning Fred Couples and Gene Bates designed course owned by The St. Joe Company and managed by Billy Casper Golf – today announces a multi-phase clubhouse renovation that will enhance the overall social, dining and golf experience for guests.
Phase one of the project, which began this month, will improve the dining area and golf shop through the installation of new floors, lighting and state-of-the-art televisions. Additional phases will take place in 2012 and will include the porch and landscape areas. The golf course will remain open during renovations.
“In addition to infusing the club with energy and providing a major aesthetic upgrade, the renovations will further SouthWood’s reputation as one of Florida’s premier destinations for golf and social events,” says Beth Murphy, general manager.
SouthWood has long been a venue of choice for myriad events, including wedding receptions, special ceremonies, holiday parties, banquets and corporate seminars. Complementing the clubhouse are the SouthWood House – a classic antebellum home – and intimate onsite cottages.
SouthWood was named one of “America’s Top 50 Courses for Women,” in Golf Digest’s June issue. The course was also recently recognized as one of Florida’s top 25 public courses by GOLF Magazine and hosted the 2011 Seminole Intercollegiate in March.
