Corning, CA – Entries are currently being accepted for the 84th Northern California Open Championship slated for Sept 12-14, 2011 at Sevillano Links, a John Daly signature-designed course in Corning, Calif. (north of Sacramento on the I-5 corridor).
The Northern California Open Championship is a 3-day, 54-hole stroke play tournament which attracts seasoned PGA and non-PGA professional players and amateurs with an index of 3.4 or lower. Entry deadline for this prestigious tournament is Wed. Sept. 7, 2011 at 9:00 PM PST.
This championship is a NCGA and Nor Cal PGA point event with a projected pro purse of $45,000 (based on a field of 144 players). Nor Cal Open players are also invited to participate in a pre-tournament skins game on Sun. Sept 11.
Conducted by the Northern California PGA (NCPGA) in conjunction with the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) the Northern California Open Championship has a long and respected history. Names that grace its trophy include Archer, Lema, Little, Lotz, Jacobsen, Maltbie, O’Meara, and Sutherland, among others. Defending champion of the Northern California Open is Ryan Thornberry of Ceres, CA.
Sevillano Links is of championship caliber and holds recognition with Best Playing Conditions in Northern California by GreensKeeper.org [2010]. Other distinctions include: No. 10 on Northern California’s Best 100 Public Golf Courses list [2009], Top 10 of Best New Public Courses by Golf Digest Magazine [2008], and Golfweek’s Best Casino Course list [2008-2010].
In addition to its award-winning course and all-natural turf range & practice center the resort includes a casino with 800 slot machines and table gaming opportunities, two lodging options (The Lodge-Vagabond Inn and The Inn at Rolling Hills), several dining options, an RV Park & Travelers Lounge, and on-site pet care.
