The PuttingZone congratulates Blake Adams and Steve Elkington for their top-10 finishes in the Reno-Tahoe Open.
Blake Adams finished 3rd two strokes off the winning score and was 16th in the field in putts per GIR (1.660) and 22nd in total putts (27.5). Blake first worked with Geoff Mangum n his putting in 2006 on the Developmental Players Tour and immediately won with a final-round 62, a Tour record, career-best round.lake then progressed in his 2009 rookie year on the Nationwide Tour to finish 3rd on the money list and 6th on Tour in putting. Blake followed this with a stellar first year on the PGA Tour in 2010.
Steve Elkington finished 6th four strokes back and was also 22nd in total putts (27.5). Steve began working with Mangum in the off-season after losing his card for the first time ever with poor putting in 2009. After only a couple of lessons, Elkington’s 2010 putting stats climbed into the top 10 on Tour in short putting, putting average, and 3-putt avoidance, resulting in his making 14 cut out of 19 starts and nearly quadrupling his winnings over the previous season. Elkington also nearly won his second PGA Championship at Whistling Straits at age 47, finished 5th. Elkington then produced a video for his website, SecretintheDirt.com, showcasing Mangum’s putting instruction, entitled The Reality of Puttting.
