PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, August 10, 2011 – Pinehurst has renewed its sponsorship as a supporting partner of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association).
Celebrating its strong heritage in promoting women’s golf, the resort is offering EWGA members special Summer and Fall golf packages as well as a 20% discounts on food, retail and any service or treatment in The Spa at Pinehurst during their stay. These offers are based on availability and will end on November 5, 2011.
“We greatly appreciate Pinehurst’s continuing support of the EWGA and women’s golf,” says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. “It’s a world class destination that every golfer must experience, and then will want to return to again and again.”
Located in the North Carolina heartland, world-renowned Pinehurst Resort is a 2,000-acre property with eight golf courses, spa, tennis, three hotels and world-class amenities. Built in 1895, it will add the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships to its list of major championships to be held at the historic property. It continues to receive numerous awards, including an unprecedented three times being named #1 Golf Resort in the U.S. by the readers of Travel + Leisure Golf magazine, and coveted Mobil Four-Star Spa recognition.
The Spa at Pinehurst, located on the Pinehurst Resort campus, was built in 2002 to return Pinehurst to its historic roots as a health resort, and currently offers over 50 treatments in its expansive 31,000 sq. ft. facility to both its resort guests and the local community, as a day spa.
Since its founding in 1991 as the Executive Women’s Golf Association, the EWGA has welcomed more than 100,000 women in the game, connecting them to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and fun. This association delivers a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers.
A 2010 survey of EWGA members conducted by the PGA of America found that the average EWGA member plays 35 rounds per year. EWGA members spent an average of $4,533 on golf activities, merchandise and golf related travel, with each local EWGA chapter annually generating $550,000 in golf related spending and an average of 4,300 rounds of golf. With over 120 chapters throughout the United States, as well as international chapters in Canada, the EWGA represents nearly $70 million to the golf industry.
A survey of former EWGA members found that 90% of these women continued to play golf. While the former EWGA member survey did not include golf-related travel, this group’s golf spending accounted for an additional $98 million, totaling over $168 million and 1.7 million rounds of golf per year.
The EWGA is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. For more information, see www.ewga.com
