ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 11, 2011) – Jay Madara has been named chief financial officer for Golf Channel.
In his new role, Madara, 39, will be responsible for the overall financial management and direction of Golf Channel – part of the NBC Sports Group – including forecasting, annual budget, long-range planning, new business development, financial reporting and accounting, as well as administrative and facilities management. He will report to Golf Channel President Mike McCarley.
Madara comes to Golf Channel as a long-time executive with Comcast Corp., most recently as Vice President of Business Intelligence at Comcast Cable. He also served Comcast Cable as Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis and Vice President of Finance at Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales business unit of Comcast Cable.
A certified public accountant by trade, Madara began his professional career with Ernst & Young in Philadelphia. He is a member of both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also is a Core Class Fellow of Leadership Philadelphia and a graduate of the FBI Philadelphia Field Office Citizens’ Academy & Community Partnership Program.
A native of Reading, Pa., Madara earned a bachelor’s degree from Temple University, where he graduated magna cum laude and also played for the school’s baseball team. He will make the transition from the Philadelphia area to Golf Channel’s Orlando, Fla., location with his wife and two daughters.
