ORLANDO, Fla. (August 23, 2011) – Golfweek magazine – the most authentic, authoritative and independent voice in golf – received a total of six awards from the Florida Magazine Association (FMA), including two coveted Charlie Awards for writing excellence. Presented Friday during a gala event at the 2011 FMA Annual Publishing Conference & Exposition in Orlando, Fla., the FMA Awards represent the pinnacle of magazine publishing acheivement in the Sunshine State.
Chosen from more than 670 entries in 76 different categories, Golfweek’s 2011 FMA awards are as follows:
Writing Excellence
• Charlie Award: Best Editorial/Commentary/Opinion (Consumer 50,000 Plus) – “Call to Fix Golf,” Gene Yasuda
• Charlie Award: Best In-Depth Reporting (Consumer 50,000 Plus) – “TV Edition,” Martin Kaufmann and Bradley Klein
• Bronze Award: Best In-Depth Reporting (Consumer 50,000 Plus) – “Dollars or Degrees,” Beth Ann Baldry and Sean Martin
• Bronze Award: Best Feature (Consumer 50,000 Plus) – “Jim Thorpe,” Jeff Rude
• Bronze Award: Best Written Magazine (Consumer 50,000 Plus) – Golfweek Staff
General Excellence
Silver Award: Best Special Theme or Show Issue (Consumer 50,000 Plus) – “Golfweek for Her,” Beth Ann Baldry, Tracy Wilcox and Golfweek Staff
