Spring Island, SC – Spring Island is pleased to announce that Tom Noyes accepted the position of General Manager of the Spring Island Club effective August 1. Noyes brings 25 years of club management experience, most recently in Florida and prior to that in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of North Carolina. Noyes is an active member of the Club Management Association of America in which he has earned status as Certified Club Manager, member of the Honor Society, and is in elite company as a Certified Chief Executive.
Spring Island is uniquely one of the country’s top golf communities, ranked in the top 50 Best Residential Golf Courses by Golfweek magazine, while also being one of most highly recognized eco-communities, earning the Urban Land Institute’s Sensitive Development Award.
In his role as General Manager, Noyes is responsible for overseeing the full range of amenities enjoyed by the club’s owners to include Spring Island’s two clubhouses and restaurants, 30-acre equestrian center, new state of the art 13,000 square foot sports complex, world-class saltwater and freshwater fishing program, six-court tennis center, and the award-winning Old Tabby Links golf course.
Asked about his first impression of Spring Island, Noyes said, “Where I came from clubs differentiated themselves by the size of the entry gates and the extravagance of the fountains. Upon entering Spring Island and seeing the simple little sign and no homes visible from the roads, my first impression was that I’ve just entered into a very special place.”
Noyes continued, “It became apparent very quickly that the greatest asset at Spring Island is not a man-made amenity like a clubhouse or a golf course, but it is the members’ commitment to a lifestyle – an active lifestyle built around community and enjoying and preserving nature.”
Noyes entered into club management at the young age of 27 when he was hired as Assistant General Manager at the Northridge Country Club in Raleigh, NC. Six-months later he was promoted to General Manager and he held that position for the next 10 years. Following a one-year stint to help a friend manage the 1998 PGA Championship in Sammamish, Wash., Noyes returned to club management as the General Manager of Chapel Hill Country Club for six years and then to Wild Cat Run in Estero, Fla. where he was General Manager for the seven years prior to coming to Spring Island.
Noyes said, “I feel like all of the steps I have taken in my career have been leading me to Spring Island!”
