(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) – International Junior Golf Tour – one of the leading competitive arenas for elite golfers in 5th-12th grade – today announces the fall 2011 schedule, including 20 events in five U.S. states.
Headquartered on Hilton Head Island, S.C., the IJGT offers over 60 two-and three-day events throughout the U.S. each year. IJGT members represent 45 U.S. states and 43 countries.
“The IJGT is a challenging, exciting and professional environment for players of all abilities to showcase their talents,” says Peter Orrell, President and CEO of Junior Sports Corporation, which owns and operates the IJGT. “We are excited about the fall schedule of events with some tournaments already close to selling out.”
Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 25-27), over 100 of the best junior golfers in the world will converge on TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., host of the PGA Tour’s Players Championship. Participants will have an opportunity to play on the world-renowned Stadium and Valley courses.
Dec. 10-11, the IJGT will host the 4th Annual Hank Haney Invitational at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island including Pete Dye’s Harbour Town Golf Links, home to the RBC Heritage each April.
In addition, the IJGT will conduct three major invitationals: Hershey Links (Hummelstown, Pa.) Oct. 29-30; Port Royal Golf Club (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) Nov. 12-13; and Temecula Creek (Temecula, Calif.) Dec. 10-11.
IJGT alumni include Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan and Paula Creamer, as well as several other PGA and LPGA Tour players. The class of 2011 IJGT players will play at several of the top NCAA Division I schools across the country including University of North Carolina, University of Arkansas, Indiana University, Southern Methodist University and others.
Last year, the IJGT launched the Hank Haney IJGT Asian Circuit (www.IJGTAsia.com) with seven events in six countries including China, India, Japan, Philippines, Thailand and South Korea.
