WINTERGREEN, Va. (Sept. 1, 2011) – Peter Jacobsen, a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour who is now a commentator for NBC, once said, “one of the most fascinating things about golf is how it reflects the cycle of life. No matter what you shoot, the next day you have to go back to the first tee and begin all over again and make yourself into something.”
It’s no secret that golf is one of the most complex physical, mental and emotional sporting pursuits ever created. In the eternal effort to improve, golfers understandably turn to expert instructors and golf schools to learn, progress and, ultimately, shave a few strokes off their scores.
Enter the Wintergreen Golf Academy at Wintergreen Resort, where each teaching professional can analyze a student’s swing and taper the program to train any body type – based on size, age, gender and other factors – to achieve the ideal swing. Instruction is not only invaluable to existing golfers looking to improve but also is an excellent starting point for beginners.
Wintergreen Golf Academy is offering two schools this fall designed to help students reach their personal potential faster and dramatically enhance their on-course experience. Moreover, the ideal fall weather at Wintergreen Resort, combined with great course conditions and an array of activities for the entire family, underscore the attractiveness of the offerings. Here is a closer look:
• Build Your Own School. Students can pick and choose from an array of options depending on what aspect of their game needs work. Putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play are just four of the seven categories available as part of this new program.
• Half Day School. This program features two hours of comprehensive golf instruction by a Wintergreen Golf Academy PGA Professional, video swing analysis and much more.
Both schools are available throughout the fall, with special winter rates beginning Nov. 1, and include one round of golf at the Rees Jones-designed Stoney Creek Golf Course, a challenging 27-hole layout, or the Ellis Maples-designed Devils Knob Golf Course, the highest golf course in Virginia with an elevation of 3,850 feet.
