PowerBilt brings sponsors and tour together
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four junior golfers from around the commonwealth of Kentucky are entering their freshman year of college and receiving $2,500 scholarships. Earlier this year, PowerBilt Golf announced a 10-year scholarship program, implemented by the HB Foundation, to support the Kentucky PGA. The scholarship recipients all participated this year in the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour, which is run by KGA-KPGA. They are:
* Brandon Beckham of Smiths Grove, Ky. (near Bowling Green), who is a graduate of Warren East High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.95. He is attending Western Kentucky University.
* Kristen Bullock of Brodhead, Ky. (south of Richmond), who is a graduate of Rockcastle County High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.88. She is attending the University of Pikeville.
* Akash Mirchandani of Prospect, Ky. (Louisville area), who is a graduate of DuPont Manual Magnet High School with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. He is attending Harvard College.
* Meredith Oder of Mount Washington, Ky. (south of Louisville), who is a graduate of Bullitt East High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.93. She is attending the University of Kentucky.
This past year, some 500 golfers from around the state played on the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour. “This is the first time we’ve awarded scholarships,” says Mark Hill, executive director of the KGA-KPGA. “These youth and their parents invest so much time and effort into golf, so it’s great for us to give something back to them in a meaningful way.”
PowerBilt, which is based in Kentucky, brought the HB Foundation and the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour together. “This is one role we can play in helping the youth in the state where so many golfers have grown up playing PowerBilt clubs,” says Ross Kvinge, president of PowerBilt.
