Fairhaven, MA (September 12, 2011) – Yani Tseng successfully defended her title at the LPGA Tour’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, adding yet another highlight to an already historic season.
Tseng, a Pro V1x golf ball loyalist and the No. 1 player in the Rolex World Rankings, topped Amy Yang (Pro V1) with a birdie on the first hole of an all-Titleist sudden-death playoff. The win was the 10th of the 22-year old’s LPGA Tour career, and her fifth worldwide win this year, including two majors at the Wegmans LPGA Championship and Ricoh Women’s British Open. Tseng has won four of her last eight starts.
Tseng made two late birdies to finish regulation tied with Yang at 12-under 201. Tseng and Yang were two of 107 players in the field that trusted Titleist golf balls for their success, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 11 and more than all competitors combined.
Tseng also led Titleist to a four-win week around the globe, and with additional victories by Pro V1x loyalists in China, Japan and Singapore, Titleist golf ball players have won 119 times across the 2011 worldwide professional tours, 100 more than the nearest competitor with 19.
• ASIAN TOUR: Himmat Singh Rai (Pro V1x) survived a five-way playoff to win the Handa Singapore Classic for his first Asian Tour title. Rai won with a birdie on the sixth playoff hole, topping a leader board that featured eight Titleist golf ball players in the top 10.
A total of 97 of the 144 players at the Singapore Classic relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, nearly five times the nearest competitor with 20.
• JAPAN TOUR: Dong-hwan Lee (Pro V1x) shot a final-round 3-under 69 to win the Toshin Golf Tournament at Lake Wood. Lee birdied the par-5 18th, finishing at 20-under 268 to clinch a one-shot victory. It was his second-career win on the Japan Tour.
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the Toshin Golf Tournament with 64 players. Titleist was also first in hybrids (42); and sand, lob and approach wedges (110).
• CHINA PGA TOUR: It was a 1-2-3 finish for Titleist Pro V1x players at the Unicom Pro-Am in Beijing, as Zhang Xin Jun won the event for the second time in four years. Zhang, who first won the tournament in 2008 as an amateur, posted a final round 4-under 68 en route to a 10-under par 278 victory total. Fellow Pro V1x loyalists Yuan Hao and Li Chao rounded out the Top 3.
A total of 125 players (85% of the field) relied upon Titleist for their success at the Unicom Pro-Am, more than 11 times the nearest competitor with 11.
