LAKE MARY, FL – Mike Bender, the 2009 PGA of America National Teacher of the Year and One of Golf Digest’s Top 10 Greatest Teachers in America, announces that the Mike Bender Golf Academy (MBGA) has moved to the beautiful Magnolia Plantation Golf Club in Lake Mary, Florida effective Monday, September 12th.
The move is part of a comprehensive upgrade of all Mike Bender Golf Academy facilities over the coming months. The move will provide the academy with the ability to expand to meet the growing demand for its unique and innovative programs including its famous Junior Champions Program, which has seen more than 70 of its junior participants go on to earn college golf scholarships.
“We have been fortunate to have had tremendous growth in our academy over the past few years including doubling our teaching staff and we needed to find a facility that has the ability to grow with our needs and Magnolia Plantation is the perfect fit for where we are heading,” explained Bender. “Tim Coolican (Magnolia Plantation’s Director of Golf and owner) and his staff have welcomed us with open arms and they understand our vision for creating one of the world’s greatest training facilities here in Lake Mary.”
The move will also allow MBGA to expand its exciting new full-time boarding school training program in partnership with Lake Mary Preparatory School that launched last month and is attracting attention from competitive juniors from around the world.
“For Magnolia Plantation to be able to partner with Mike Bender and his talented staff of instructors, is an amazing opportunity,” says Coolican, “We’ve been consistently improving our golf course over the past few years and now to bring one of the world’s best golf academies to our facility is just an extraordinary opportunity.”
The Mike Bender Golf Academy and its staff have earned numerous teaching awards and it has been the training base to many top touring professionals including 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson; five-time PGA Tour winner Jonathan Byrd, two-time U.S. Open Champion Lee Janzen and multiple LPGA Tour winner Seon Hwa Lee. The academy offers a variety of cutting-edge improvement programs for all levels of golfers including player development for beginners, comprehensive programs for every level of junior player.
