(LAHAINA, HI) – Ka’anapali Golf Courses, managed by Billy Casper Golf, announces that award-winning chef Roy Yamaguchi is scheduled to open Roy’s Restaurant at the Ka’anapali’s clubhouse in December 2011.
Roy’s Restaurants conducted an island-wide search for the ideal location for its new restaurant, selecting the Ka’anapali Golf Courses’ clubhouse. The restaurant will occupy approximately 5,000 square feet and the menu will feature many of Roy Yamaguchi’s famed dishes, including the Hawaiian Style Misoyaki Butterfish and Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé.
Based on childhood memories of the feelings and flavors of Hawaii, Roy invented what he refers to as “Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine” – a tempting combination of exotic flavors and spices mixed with the freshest of local ingredients, always with an emphasis on seafood.
“We couldn’t be more excited about our new Maui location” says Roy Yamaguchi. “We think the clubhouse at the Ka’anapali Golf Courses is a perfect fit for us, and we look forward to continuing to serve the west Maui community and visitors for years to come.”
Roy’s Restaurant will be open to the public, catering to Ka’anapali golfers, resort guests, Island residents and private parties.
“The entire Roy’s Restaurant experience is in sync with both golf and social experiences at Ka’anapali,” says Ed Kageyama, PGA General Manager of Ka’anapali Golf Courses. “We are very excited about the new partnership with Roy and his team; they bring a great reputation and following.”
About Roy’s Restaurants
In Hawaii, there are two things of equal importance – food and the “aloha” spirit. The blending of these two dynamic principles is how Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine was born. European techniques and Asian cuisine meet Hawaiian hospitality to create a fine dining experience unlike any other. Where the “aloha” style of service comes straight from the heart, and where any occasion becomes an unforgettable evening.
In 1988, James Beard Award-winner Roy Yamaguchi opened the first Roy’s in Honolulu, Hawaii. Today there are 31 Roy’s locations around the world – 23 in the continental U.S., six in Hawaii, one in Japan and one in Guam. Roy’s restaurants are designed around a unique experience through spacious dining rooms, an expansive lounge and Roy’s signature exhibition kitchen in full view. The Royal Ka’anapali Course, a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design, opened in 1962 and continues to test the skills of professional and amateur golfers. A par-71, 6,700-yard layout, the Royal Course combines wide fairways and undulating greens, making it distinctive, demanding and exciting, hole to hole. The Ka’anapali Kai Course – a par-70, 6,400-yard gem – places an emphasis on proper club selection and placement off the tee, allowing for better approach shots into the large, bunker-protected greens.
The resort underwent a $13 million renovation in 2005-2006 and earned a 4.5-star rating (of five) by Golf Digest in its “Best Places to Play” guide. Ka’anapali was selected by The Golf Channel to host “Big Break Ka’anapali” in 2008. For more information or to reserve a tee time: www.kaanapaligolfcourses.com, 808.661.3691.
