ORLANDO, Fla. – September 15, 2011…Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, recently announced that Sean Gradomski, Director of Golf at Royal St. Kitts Golf Club in Basseterre, St. Kitts, has been named Golf Professional of the Year.
Marriott Golf’s prestigious Golf Professional of the Year award recognizes an individual who consistently performs and exceeds in areas of sales and profit; leadership in personnel development; innovative program development; and affinity programs.
Sean has been a member of the Marriott Golf team at Royal St. Kitts Golf Club since 2003, having served as the Director of Golf since 2007. During his tenure on property, Sean has played an integral role in elevating the club’s status as one of the premier golf courses in the Caribbean, and he has been a driving force in developing and implementing the property’s environmental efforts. As part of Marriott Golf’s portfolio-wide sustainability program, Sean led the golf team in the establishment of a new irrigation system for the course, which in-turn contributed to Royal St. Kitts Golf Club becoming the first Caribbean golf course to be certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
Under Sean’s guidance, overall golfer satisfaction at Royal St. Kitts Golf Club is the highest among any Marriott Golf property. Customer feedback is based on the overall golfing experience, which includes customer service, condition of the golf course, overall value based on price, and desire to recommend to family and friends.
“We are very proud to announce that Sean is our ‘Golf Professional of the Year,” said Claye Atcheson, Vice President, Marriott Golf. “He has dedicated many years to leading the golf operation at St. Kitts, while consistently providing Marriott customers with a memorable island golfing experience, and he is truly deserving of this honor.”
The championship Royal St. Kitts Golf Club features a magnificent layout that has 125 irrigated acres of lush grass, allowing golfers to play 2 holes on the Caribbean Sea and 3 holes on the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by famed Canadian architect Thomas McBroom, this extraordinary course boasts water hazards on 10 holes, 80 bunkers and a multitude of coconut palm trees along the Atlantic Ocean, as well as a private country club style clubhouse. The signature 15th hole, a 166-yard down-hill par 3, features stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, and on a clear day, neighboring islands including Nevis, Anguilla, St. Martin and Antigua.
