HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – September 26, 2011 – Cleveland® Golf/Srixon® congratulates staffer Ted Potter Jr. for his playoff victory at the Nationwide Tour’s 2011 Soboba Golf Classic, which was held over the weekend at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto, Calif. Potter’s win, his second of the season to go along with his victory at the South Georgia Classic in May, was worth $135,000 and moved him to No.3 on the money list with only five events remaining on the schedule. Potter increased his season earnings to $362,452, assuring himself a PGA Tour card for 2012.
Potter, a 27-year-old native of Ocala, Fla., had a chance to win the tournament in regulation, but he missed a 12-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th hole and settled for birdie. Potter’s final-round 66 gave him a 14-under-par total and qualified him for a three-man playoff. On the second playoff hole, Potter clinched the victory with a tap-in birdie after missing his eagle attempt from 15 feet.
“I wasn’t trying to lag it down there, I was trying to make three,” said Potter. “I thought it was going to take three to win it but fortunately I made four and it was enough.”
