Castle Pines, CO (October 4, 2011) – On Saturday, October 1, 2011, the golfers at Four Mile Ranch Golf Course in Canon City, CO recorded one hole-in-one, two eagles and shot a ringer score of “51” – 21 under par.
While the Guinness World Record for the number of holes-in-one on a single day was not broken, what was shattered was the fun barrier by the golfers and the golf course had one of its highest gross revenue days in its history.
Thirty-six women golfers with an average handicap of 24 and eight-nine men with an average handicap of 18 played 2,250 holes on internationally acclaimed architect Jim Engh’s magical design in Canon City, CO. Though the odds of a hole in one are 1 in 12,750 attempts, Stan Honsten, recorded an ace of the 168 yard, 7th hole with a 6 iron greatly besting the statistical odds of such an occurrence.
Mr. John Feeney, the course superintendent and wizard of agronomy, was elated with the number of females participating at his very woman friendly golf course in which the course conditions remain the finest in Colorado.
For a prime time rack rate fee, golfers received an 18-hole green fee, cart, range balls and one Guinness Beer upon completing their round.
As sponsor, J. J. Keegan, Managing Principal of Golf Convergence stated, “Golf is about entertainment. This is a fabulous event that attracted the interest of golfers along the entire Front Range of Colorado. This is a perfect blend of the game of golf balanced with the business of golf.”
