ORLANDO, FL , (October 18, 2011) – FlightScope successfully concluded its first ever Science of Golf Teaching and Club Fitting convention hosted by the prestigious Laurel Links Country Club in Long Island, New York.
On Day 1, attendees from six countries from as far away as China, learned about the history of FlightScope and got a glimpse of the first FlightScope prototype golf radar developed in 1998. Then, FlightScope founder and inventor Henri Johnson gave a detailed account of 3D technology and how club and ball gets measured. Next up was convention co-host, Michael Jacobs of Explosive Golf Schools, with the D Plane and initial trajectory of the ball. Following executive chef Jon LePresti’s renowned cuisine was Dr Steven Nesbit’s work on 3D modeling of the golf swing and golf club deflection as a function of the swing hub. FlightScope’s David Nel completed Day 1 proceedings with a detailed description of FlightScope’s data and screens and how to interpret them. Attendees also had the chance to interact and have their questions answered. Day 1 ended with a session on the range where FlightScope customers saw the X2 in action and the FlightScope integration with Swing Catalyst video analysis software. Many also used the opportunity to have their radars calibrated and loaded with the latest firmware.
Day 2 saw Henri Johnson and David Nel show attendees how to market their services and gave them a glimpse of FlightScope Skills, a new innovative software application that allows golfers to analyze their accuracy and distance control and track their performance against their peers. Each attendee received a free copy of this new application as well as the latest FlightScope software release. Next was Dr Nesbit’s work on the forces and torques on a golf club and David Nel explaining how to interpret the speed and acceleration profiles on FlightScope. Day 2 ended with Dr Aaron Zick giving a detailed analysis of the golfer’s impact with the ball and the double pendulum modeling of a golf shot.
A round of golf on the prestigious Laurel Links proved to be a fitting end to the successful 2-day convention, giving the attendees the chance to play the pristine layout on the last day. With its strategically placed bunkers and fast greens, the Kelly Blake Moran design proved to be a stern but very enjoyable test.
The 2012 convention is already eagerly awaited.
