PowerBilt and Puetz Golf bring players and scholarship program together

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. – The cost of higher education has gotten lower for six golfers who played this year on the Northwest Junior Golf Tour. PowerBilt and Puetz Golf have announced the recipients of a $10,000 scholarship program for Washington state golfers who recently began their first year of college. The winners, with each receiving $1,650, are:

Paige Henry of Snohomish, Wash.

Jennifer Liedes of Olympia, Wash.

Harrison Price of Freeland, Wash.

Kyle Schrader of Olympia, Wash.

Tanner Arbuthnot of Puyallup, Wash.

Chad Kibler of Edgewood, Wash.

Earlier this year, the HB Foundation announced a 10-year commitment to providing scholarships for Washington state students. The Foundation is working with PowerBilt, Puetz Golf and Northwest Junior Golf Tour to promote the scholarship program. Its collective effort to grow the game of golf while using the game to enhance the quality of life.

“These six young golfers have proven they can compete successfully on the golf course and in the classroom,” says Ross Kvinge, president of PowerBilt, which has been a popular brand of golf clubs in the Northwest for decades. “We’ve set out to develop a community-driven program that helps golfers in their formative years. And we’re proud to announce the winners during this first year of the program.”

The Northwest Junior Tour, based at McCormick Woods Golf Course, is operated by PGA Professional Jeff Mehlert and is a not-for-profit group committed to helping youth, regardless of economic or social background, reach their potential through golf. “Our Junior Tour has always strived to make golf more accessible to junior golfers. The scholarship program is the next step in helping young golfers to not only improve their game, but succeed in life as well,” says Mehlert.

Both PowerBilt and Puetz Golf have demonstrated a commitment to developing junior golfers. For the past decade, PowerBilt has offered hi-tech junior clubs touted by many as the best on the market. For decades, Puetz Golf has operated junior clinics to help introduce youngsters to the game and hone their skills. “Teaming up to create a scholarship program takes our commitment to young golfers in our community to a new level,” says Mike Livingston, Puetz Golf General Manager.
