COLUMBUS, GA, October 13, 2011 — Roy Nix, Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP), the world leader in the advancement of custom clubfitting and clubmaking reports on the recently concluded clubfitters convention RT6 as a roaring success based on comments from those attending the event. Many AGCP members commented RT6 was the best ever and are looking forward to RT7 next fall. Video clips of some of the presentations and interviews with AGCP Sponsors can be found on our “clubfitter” account on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/agcpclubfitter?feature=mhee
“The quality of the speakers and the new format for RT6 was a key factor in why members were raving about the convention. We expanded our classes to 2 hour and 3 hour sessions to allow for more in depth discussions of the topics and more questions and answers from the classes.” said Nix.
In previous years the AGCP convention has had basic one hour presentations from speakers and lecturers for the most part but going to 2 and 3 hours classes allowed the speakers to get into more detailed analysis of the subject matter and also allow for a lengthy question and answer session with the participating class members throughout the presentation, and to ask follow-up questions at the end of the session.
The theme this year was “The swing of fitting” and more emphasis was put on how the golf swing and the golf club relate and how to fit for both swing faults and equipment faults. Nix wanted members to learn more details about the mechanics of the golf swing so they could recognize when to send golfers for lessons and when to continue fitting them. Assisting with this the AGCP had AGCP members who are also PGA members teaching classes about the golf swing. Eric Hogge, the head professional at the PGA Center for Learning in Port St. Lucie Florida and Mike McFadden #3 on the European PGA’s Top 10 list of teaching professionals were excellent and drew rave reviews from the attendees. In addition, David Nel from FlightScope brought his expertise about golf swings from an analysis view point and gave 2 excellent presentations, one on the D plane and one on the different data screens on the FlightScope and how to interpret the data from those screens into useful fitting information. Dr. John Taylor a Level 10 AGCP member from JT Custom Clubs in San Francisco CA kicked the convention off with a discussion of the K-Vest for teaching and fitting. This broke the swing down scientifically for AGCP members to give them a scientific explanation for what they were about to see and hear for the next few days. The K Vest is a biofeedback system that allows teaching and fitting professionals to provide students with real-time auditory, visual, and kinesthetic feedback that will help eliminate swing faults, improve ball flight, and lower scores. This allows the instructor to reinforce proper swing mechanics.
The combination of speakers over the 3 day event led to comments from those who attended like the following:
“For those of you who were not as fortunate as I was to be here in Columbus for the last 4 days, you really missed something special. We spent a lot of time on getting more information on the swing, on shaft profiling with MOI, Frequency and the Sponsors were just incredible to talk to. … for me, it was 4 of the best, most special days, I have ever spent in the golf industry. ” Bob Williams – The Pasadena Clubfitter
Bob: I definitely agree. RT-7 here we come! – Keith Chatham, Kerrville TX
only being able to attend on Fri…I was certainly pleased that I was able to do so. The Jerry L/Eric, Mike McFadden and FlightScope presentations, their knowledge, relating and sharing their experiences, and presentation styles were outstanding and tremendously informative. It was certainly worth the time, effort and cost. Roy and family continue to work their butts off to enhance our knowledge and draw this level of talent. The DVDs will be worth it for those who were unable to attend. It is obvious why these particular presenters are very, very busy. They work at an elevated level and are rewarded for it. Al Humphrey – Monroe, GA
…the quality of RT6 was definitely up! One highlight for me was definitely Mike McFadden’s talk. – J Mike Kell, Tampa Bay FL
These and similar comments were repeated by many AGCP members both during and after the event continue to come throughout the week that followed. Key AGCP sponsors are looking forward to partnering with the AGCP next year to bring the information sharing to an even higher level.
The dates for RT7 will be available soon at www.agcpgolf.com for those who want to book their vacation time early for next fall.
