WATERLOO, ON., CANADA – aboutGolf congratulates University of Waterloo Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams for their notable wins at Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Golf Championships, Mon and Tues., Oct. 17 – 18 , at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club in Kingston Ontario
“The PGA TOUR Simulator has certainly made a difference for our teams,” says Dave Hollinger, Coach of University of Waterloo’s golf team. “We call it our secret weapon.”
That “secret weapon” also assisted at the Canadian Championships last May where the women’s team finished third and the men’s finished seventh. The teams plan to practice on the PGA TOUR Simulator throughout the winter, utilizing aG’s new software and the aG Balance Pro dual force plates which were recently installed. The teams are excited to apply the new technology as they prepare to travel to British Columbia in May for a chance at a National Championship.
“The University of Waterloo’s golf teams should be very proud of their accomplishments,” says Bob Ryan, CEO and Chairman of aboutGolf. “Being a part of helping golfers of all ages and skills enjoy the game and elevate their level of play is part of our mission.”
When the simulator was installed two years ago, one player in particular – Garrett Rank – who capitalized on the data provided by the simulator, is now a member of the Canadian National Golf Team. Rank competed in the Porter Cup, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Public Links and is currently ranked as the world’s 175th amateur.
Rank leaves Oct 29 to play in Texas and then to Argentina for another week of competition against the best amateurs in the world. Rank credits the aboutGolf PGA TOUR Simulator for helping in his success, stating that, “my game is ready.”
The University of Waterloo’s engineering school-widely regarded as Canada’s best-was the beneficiary of an aboutGolf PGA TOUR Simulator in November 2009 to allow collaboration between aboutGolf and UW golf equipment and biomechanics researchers.
