Alexandria, VA – November 1, 2011 – The Club Foundation announced today the inaugural award of the LaRocca Family Executive Scholarship. The inaugural recipient is David Dew, CCM, President/Chief Executive Officer at Lake Toxaway Country Club in Lake Toxaway, NC.
Established with a substantial commitment by the LaRocca Family, this scholarship assists club management professionals who are looking to continue their professional development beyond the core Business Management Institute (BMI) programs. This scholarship dedicates funds for attendance at the elective BMIs such as BMI IV – Tactical Leadership and BMI V – Strategic Leadership. While these CMAA educational opportunities fall outside the Certified Club Manager (CCM) requirements, they provide immeasurable value and experiences for attendees. In addition, funds are separately designated to provide the opportunity for the club manager to mentor future industry leaders and to assist mentees in their quest for lifetime professional development.
“As club managers, we understand that the greatest successes our Association has achieved and will in the future come from within its ranks. The spirit of our contribution was to assist our fellow club managers in their growth so that one day they continue the charitable tradition that has been part of CMAA for generations,” shared Joseph P. LaRocca; Nicholas J. LaRocca; Pasquale “Pat” J. LaRocca, CCM, CCE; and Richard L. LaRocca, CCM, CCE.
