Make It Five Gary Player-designed Old York Country Club Joins The Talamore Family Of Clubs

November 16, 2011

Chesterfield, NJ – November 7, 2011 – Old York Country Club (www.oldyorkcc.com) of Chesterfield, NJ, is now a member of the Talamore Family of Clubs (www.talamore.com), home to four other premier country club facilities in Ambler and Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Members of Old York are now able to enjoy privileges at other Talamore facilities and, vice versa; Talamore members may now enjoy Old York.

Old York was designed by well-known architect and Grand Slam Champion Gary Player (www.garyplayer.com). It has received numerous accolades, including a Top 25 In State ranking by Golf Digest. Old York was conceived and built by the Eget family of New Jersey and opened in 1995. Operating as a non-equity Club led by Ed and Corinne Eget, the Club flourished through the years and built a great reputation as one the of the area’s premier private clubs.

More recently like many other private clubs, Old York has been challenged with many of the same issues facing the private club industry. Talamore’s involvement came about as Old York searched for new ways to navigate through the choppy economic waters.

“Talamore is truly a breath of fresh air”, noted Corinne Eget, founder and owner at Old York. “Right from our first visit things seemed to just click. They are in tune with reality and clearly understand what it takes to make a private club work for the members and simultaneously to have it make economic sense.”

The unique arrangement makes Talamore the managing partner at Old York with all day to responsibilities for club operations. At the helm for Talamore at Old York will be Gerry Heller, a seasoned private club manager selected from more than 250 applicants from around the country. Gerry has held General Manager and Chief Operating Officer positions at venerable northeast and midwest clubs including Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York (www.locusthill.org), home to approximately 500 members and the Wegman’s LPGA Championship (www.wegmanslpga.org). Other Clubs in Gerry’s portfolio include Chagrin Valley in Cleveland, Ohio (www.Cvcclub.com), the Country Club of Harrisburg (www.ccharrisburg.com), and the Birmingham Athletic Club in Michigan (www.bacmi.net). Gerry also brings extensive corporate experience with his extended tenure in the hotel industry with Marriott and Hilton. In these roles, Gerry earned high honors as a Senior Manager, leading the challenges of opening new hotels and tweaking the ones in need of better performance.

“This is the tremendous opportunity at a perfect time in my career,” said Gerry. “I will be calling upon all my experiences in the club and hospitality industry to bring exceptional levels of service and satisfaction to the membership at Old York. The membership at Old York and the Club’s facilities are first class and provide a solid foundation from which to enhance member services and in turn grow the membership.”

The unique membership arrangement is a continuation of what Talamore aptly dubs “Seamless Membership Privileges” whereby members are able to play anywhere with the Talamore Family Network without additional dues, only their normal cart fees. “Confidence, value and exceeding expectations are the cornerstones of what we strive for every day,” said Jon Hazelwood, General Manager at Talamore flagship property in Ambler, Pennsylvania. “With three premier clubs in Pennsylvania and New Jersey linked at just 45 minutes apart, and two world-class destination clubs in Pinehurst, North Carolina, it is hard to find a more compelling membership value.”

Recently in Tri-State Golfer Magazine, Talamore was noted for being a standout in the private club industry as they forged ahead with significant multimillion dollar club improvements while other clubs are struggling to make ends meet. With the addition of Old York, it certainly seems that Talamore will continue to stand out in the private club industry.

A limited number of Full Golf and Social Membership opportunities are available at Old York.
