SAN DIEGO, CA. – Heritage Golf Group is pleased to announce that TPC Piper Glen, a premier private golf facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, will be re-opening its golf course for Members today, following a four month closure to install new bentgrass greens.
The facility closed its course in July, 2011 to replace the greens with a new generation bentgrass called Dominator. The Club chose this particular grass after much research and with the help of Dr. Lucas from the Carolinas Golf Association, Dr. Miller from North Carolina State and Dr. Bigalow from Purdue. The superior characteristics of Dominator are that it is exceptionally heat tolerant, it has very high density which creates a smooth, fast ball roll, it has superior disease resistance and it is highly poa annua resistant.
During the Greens Project, TPC Piper Glen took the opportunity to improve overall golf course aesthetics and to re-contour the slope of #14 green, the signature hole on the golf course.
In celebration of the grand re-opening, TPC Piper Glen will introduce a new social calendar featuring interactive activities for the kids, as well as updated social events and dining menus for the enjoyment of the adult Members and Guests. The Club also recently added a new Fitness Center which features the finest fitness equipment available.
“We are looking forward to re-opening the course and are excited to welcome back our Members and guests who have been patient and supportive through during our Greens Project,” said Eddie Carpenter, General Manager of TPC Piper Glen. “I am very pleased with our progress and would like to give a special thank you to golf course superintendent Dean Sparks and his entire staff for the incredible improvements that have been made.”
TPC Piper Glen features a stunning 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed golf course. Dedicated to environmentally friendly practices, TPC Piper Glen was the first course in the state to become certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. TPC Piper Glen is a non-equity club operated by Heritage Golf Group and is a member of the TPC Network of properties nationwide. Situated within the historic city of Charlotte, North Carolina, TPC Piper Glen has become legendary for its unique combination of beauty, challenge and pure playability.
