24th Annual Event Is A Celebration Of Golf And Family

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Family Golf Week, which features the Father-Son and Parent-Child team classics, is ready to welcome 804 players to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the 24th annual event July 15-17.

The 54-hole, two-person team tournaments will be played on eight of the Myrtle Beach area’s most popular courses and participation is up 14 percent over 2019. The 2020 event was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Family Golf Week is a celebration of the bonds the game helps forge among family members and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome players back,” said Mike Buccerone, president of East Coast Golf Events, the company that runs Family Golf Week. “The last year has been a reminder to all of us to appreciate the time we get to spend with loved ones, and what better place to create those memories than Family Golf Week. We are looking forward to an unforgettable week on and off the course.”

The tournament will tee-off Thursday, July 15 and the daily formats will be best ball, Texas scramble and captain’s choice. Following the opening round, players will enjoy “Family Golf Night” at Barefoot Resort’s practice facility, which will include a skills challenge, food from Logan’s Roadhouse and the Father of the Year presentation, among other activities.

There will be lunch served at the course after Round 2 is complete, and participants will enjoy breakfast and an awards luncheon at Barefoot, the event’s host facility, after third-round play.

Arcadian Shores, Love Course at Barefoot Resort, Crow Creek, Glen Dornoch, The Pearl, Pine Lakes, Shaftesbury Golf Club and Wachesaw Plantation East will host this year’s event.

Participants will range from 9 to 87 years old, and they will be divided into 17 flights.

Golf media star Kelly Tilghman will be honored as Family Golf Week’s Mother of the Year while former PGA Tour player Hugh Royer III is the event’s Father of the Year.

The entry fee was $995 per team and includes three rounds of golf, daily lunch, pre- and post-event functions, and a gift bag valued at $500. Included among the gift bag items are a $150 tournament gift card that can be used at host courses for food, merchandise and golf, a logo’d polo shirt, a dozen Srixon golf balls and more.
