Golf legend to discuss her non-profit organization’s work with lawmakers
ORLANDO, FL – The ANNIKA Foundation (www.annikafoundation.org) is pleased to announce professional golf legend Annika Sorenstam is making an appearance on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on December 7th, 2011. Sorenstam will meet with Congressional leaders and policymakers to discuss her work at the Foundation, particularly the Foundation’s collaboration with quality physical education and health and wellness programs to promote healthy lifestyles and nutrition for children.
The ANNIKA Foundation teaches children the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition, and offers aspiring junior golfers opportunities to pursue their dreams. The Foundation has partnered with several key organizations to promote healthy and active lifestyles for children, including SPARK, the leading physical education program for schools; Florida Hospital for Children, supporting its Healthy 100 Kids initiative; and The First Tee, developing the Nine Healthy Habits curriculum for children.
Annika previously appeared on Capitol Hill twice to meet with Congressional leaders as a part of “National Health Through Fitness Day,” sponsored by the Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s Association. Annika co-led a group of legendary athletes as they lobbied for $79 million in funding for Carol M. White Physical Education Program grants for schools across the country.
