Alexandria, VA – December 15, 2011 – The National Alliance for Accessible Golf (Alliance) is excited to collaborate with the Penn State Global Accessibility Initiative (GAI) and the Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA) to offer an Accessible Golf Training Certificate Program. The certificate program will be offered January 24-25, 2012, at the Walt Disney World Osprey Ridge Golf Course in Orlando, FL.
The training is designed and welcomes LPGA/PGA professionals, allied health professionals and other individuals interested in learning more about accessible golf and inclusive programming including directors, golf course facility owners and instructors of established golf programs (The First Tee, Sticks for Kids, Hook A Kid on Golf, Get Golf Ready, LPGA USGA Girls Golf, junior golf programs, Rehabilitation Programs, Veterans Administration Rehabilitation Programs, National Parks and Recreation Programs, etc.).
The certificate program will provide the resources to encourage inclusive golf learning environments for people with disabilities. LPGA and PGA professionals completing the comprehensive, two-day training will earn 16 PGA MSRs or eight LPGA CUs.
Dr. Betsy Clark, President of the Alliance, shares “our purpose and intention is to blend our organizations expertise and resources to train LPGA/PGA professionals and allied health specialists in bringing people with disabilities into the game of golf and to understand how to develop effective inclusive golf programs. We believe that the Accessible Golf Certificate Training Program is a critical education initiative that mirrors and supports the golf industry’s strategic training priorities and efforts to grow the game for all. ”
