NORWALK, Conn. – Marc Simon, PGA Golf Exhibitions Group Sales Director, has been named the Reed Exhibitions~Americas Group Sales Director of the Year. Simon was recognized by the company and his peers for his outstanding leadership in renewing industry participation in the PGA Merchandise Show and PGA Expo; in developing creative on-site Show programs to grow vendor business; and in building exhibitor and attendee satisfaction levels across multiple categories.
“Marc has achieved impressive professional milestones in the past year and is well deserving of the 2011 Group Sales Director of the Year award,” said PGA Golf Exhibitions Vice President John McGeary. “Marc’s long history with the PGA Shows and his love of the game are matched by his dedication to making our events the very best business opportunities for our vendors, PGA Professionals, retailers and industry leaders who count on PGA Golf Shows to support their business year in and year out.”
Simon also was recognized earlier this year as a 2011 honoree of the Sporting Goods Business 40 Under 40 Awards.
Simon has been involved in the golf industry nearly his entire life. As a player, Simon progressed from top regional amateur to standout player on the Hamilton College golf team, earning Academic All-America Honors and ultimately election to the Town of Kirkland Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
His golf industry career started out in the pro shop at Skenandoa Golf Course, progressing to a successful career with Reed Exhibitions on the PGA Golf Shows – beginning in sales and eventually becoming Sales Manager, National Accounts Manager and then Sales Director. Promoted to Group Sales Director in 2010, Simon led the successful effort to bring back all major equipment manufacturers to the Show floor in 2011. Simon has twice been Awarded Reed’s Sales Manager of the Year, as well as Reed’s “People’s Choice” Awards in 2005 and 2010.
