Star-studded LPGA event benefits genetic disease foundation, Prader-Willi Syndrome research
(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) — PGA National Resort & Spa — home of the PGA TOUR Honda Classic – will host the eighth annual Prader Willi Golf Classic with Leta Lindley and her friends from the LPGA Tour on Jan. 13-15.
LPGA stars slated to join Lindley for the LPGA Pro Am (Saturday, Jan. 14) and Leta Lindley Invitational (Sunday, Jan. 15) include Meg Mallon, Beth Daniel, Christina Kim, Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Lewis, Angela Stanford, Vicki Hurst and Val Skinner. In addition to the two days of golf, a cocktail reception, dinner gala, silent / live auctions and the performance art of Michael Israel will be held at legendary South Florida resort on Friday evening (Jan. 13) beginning at 6 p.m.
The event benefits the Genetic Disease Foundation and its continuing research on Prader-Willi Syndrome. Specifically, the GDF supports research to discover effective treatments and cures for genetic diseases and to improve and expand genetic testing to ultimately prevent these devastating diseases. Vital to its mission is the education of patients, physicians and the public to increase awareness about genetic disorders as well as the availability of genetic testing and counseling.
“We’re honored to host the Prader Willi Golf Classic and its noble goal of benefiting the Genetic Disease Foundation and its life-changing research,” says Joel Paige, vice president and managing director of PGA National Resort & Spa. “There is nothing more important than helping kids lead a life free of limitations and we applaud Leta Lindley and the LPGA for all they do.”
Ronnie Levine, who along with her husband Ira founded the Prader Willi Golf Classic in honor of their granddaughter Josilyn Faith Levine, says, “It’s all about Josi and aiding kids with PWS to have the brightest future possible.”
