Pioneering footwear brand furthers premium category leadership position
(Londonderry, New Hampshire) – Danish brand ECCO – maker of the world’s most comfortable, stylish and technically-advanced footwear – announces it will showcase its latest styles, including additions to the Golf Street category and the groundbreaking BIOM Golf and BIOM Hybrd models, at Booth 1963 during the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show, Jan. 26-28 in Orlando, FL.
With a completely anatomical last developed by scanning more than 2,500 feet, BIOM Hybrid combines ECCO Natural Motion technology with the company’s patented, award-winning Golf Street outsole. The result pairs the human body’s evolutionary system for absorbing impact with a non-cleated shoe bottom that provides superior durability, comfort, traction and stability on or off the golf course.
“ECCO revolutionized golf footwear by pioneering the hybrid and Natural Motion categories,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “With the market still chasing our past innovations, BIOM Hybrid takes the next step forward.”
Also new for this season are Golf Street Luxe “Lizzard” – drawn from the expertise ECCO has gained as one of the world’s largest luxury leather producers – and Golf Street Performance Textile, pairing soft leathers and breathable open mesh for a fresh, modern look. Both feature the most durable outsole of any hybrid shoe on the market. Crafted from TPU, the 100 molded traction bars have been shown to last five times longer than rubber and to provide industry-best traction.
“The PGA Merchandise Show provides a tremendous opportunity for us to interact with the PGA Professionals, merchandisers and others who are so vital to our business,” says David Helter, Specialty Sales Director, ECCO USA. “It’s also a wonderful forum from which to share insights about our foot-first approach to design, as well as the craftsmanship and premium materials that distinguish every ECCO shoe.”
Like all ECCO golf shoes, BIOM Hybrid and Golf Street are constructed using a Direct Injection Process that provides superior cushioning, stability and comfort via a one-piece shoe that’s built without glue or stitching.
ECCO golf shoes are worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Graeme McDowell, Fred Couples, Thomas Bjorn, Stuart Appleby, Thongchai Jaidee, Thorbjørn Olesen, Andreas Hartø, Belén Mozo, Gerina Piller and many others.
