Educates future golf-course superintendents about convergence of
turf-management art and business
(VIENNA, VA) – Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – owner and operator of more than 130 golf courses, country clubs and resorts – has launched a comprehensive agronomy internship program designed to identify and further educate future leaders in turf-grass management.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor or graduate turf-grass management or agronomy degree program with career aspirations in golf-course maintenance.
Positions will be offered at select BCG-managed courses nationwide for the 2012 golf season. Interns will complete tasks in 21 key areas of competency in “real world” classrooms. In addition to scientific aspects of the profession, they will be challenged to enhance leadership, management and communication abilities, as well as acquire MBA-like business skills.
The application deadline is March 1, 2012.
“Billy Casper Golf will teach interns the business side of golf-course maintenance to augment the foundation of their university studies,” says Bryan Bielecki, Vice President of Agronomy of BCG. “They will benefit from hands-on environments and training under many of the industry’s most talented superintendents.”
Developed in conjunction with many of the company’s superintendents, internships mirror the guidelines of BCG’s industry-leading course standards and agronomic programming.
