Lovable golf poseur, Guy Johnson, returns as hero

CHICAGO – January 17, 2012 – Wilson Golf, the Chicago-based company with more Major championship victories (61) than any other golf club manufacturer, recently launched its new 2012 television advertising campaign “Seriously” on the Golf Channel. These creative spots are part of Wilson’s increased investments in the United States media, particularly on the Golf Channel. The ads feature three of Wilson’s most popular PGA Tour Advisory Staff members: Padraig Harrington, Ricky Barnes and Kevin Streelman.

“We feel that the entire “Seriously” advertising campaign resonates with golfers and reinforces the message that Wilson Golf is serious about making high quality equipment that performs,” said Tim Clarke, general manager of Wilson Golf. “We look forward to the continued success of our advertisements globally and we will use that to continue to build on the legacy of our great brand.”

The campaign emphasizes the Wilson Staff brand and the new 2012 Wilson Staff irons, and also features the return of the lovable golf poseur, Guy Johnson, as a newly reformed evangelist of Wilson Staff. This hero has clearly made the transition and is now a brand ambassador. Based on the resurgence of the brand, and an increased investment in R&D, the ads utilize the now familiar phrase: “Wilson Staff: Seriously.”

The advertising campaign includes broadcast, print and online executions, consisting of three different television ads. The spots feature new 2012 Wilson Staff equipment, including the FG Tour V2 irons and the sleek black Ci11 irons.

Wilson Staff’s social media efforts are a significant part of the advertising campaign as fans can view the spots (and an outtake reel) on the WilsonGolfTV YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/wilsongolftv) and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/WilsonGolf.
