Ashworth Golf Introduces New Colors To The Cardiff Shoe Collection

Highly successful Ashworth footwear model adds to momentum with new color options for 2012

Carlsbad, CA (January 18, 2012) – Ashworth Golf, an authentic golf brand dedicated to bringing modern style to the golf course, has announced the release of three new color options for the highly successful Cardiff. The expanded line of footwear will debut in February in a unique Iron colorway, followed by the introduction of Brown (March) and White (July).

The Cardiff’s spikeless platform provides more than adequate stability and traction (dry and wet environments) with strategically placed traction lugs of varying sizes designed to deliver optimal grip in all conditions even for the most competitive golfers. PGA Tour professional Sean O’Hair chose to wear the Cardiff at the 2012 Tournament of Champions after testing it over the holiday break. “I was looking for a shoe that resembled the comfort of some of the tennis shoes I wear without sacrificing performance on the course,” said O’Hair. “The Cardiff is very comfortable to walk in and it gives me the cushioning and traction I was looking for even in wet conditions, which is phenomenal.”

Since its introduction in June 2011, the Cardiff has proven to be nothing less than extraordinary; the shoe has outsold its original forecast, has been seen on the PGA Tour and become a staple in a golfer’s wardrobe. “Introducing this category to Ashworth Golf has proven successful,” said Bill Price, VP Global Footwear. “The Cardiff sold more than double the original forecast and each of the past six months we’ve exceeded monthly sales and margin goals. We’re very excited to roll-out the new colors for 2012 and keep the momentum going.”

The Cardiff was created to deliver the functionality of a traditional golf shoe with the versatility and comfort typically found in a casual town shoe. Perfect for going from the office or backyard bbq to the course, the Cardiff offers playability, wearability and sure-footed traction made to be in style everywhere and that can be worn anywhere. A tumbled, full-grain leather upper with suede accents offer durability, a rich look and feel and also waterproof protection backed by a 2-year waterproof warranty. The soft and pliable molded-rubber outsole provides a comfortable, low-profile fit without the sensation of traditional spikes.

The Cardiff is offered in medium width and for 2012 will be available in five colorways: Iron/White/Toro on February 1, 2012, Tan/Black/Gum available at retail on March 1, 2012, and White/White/Dark Marine on July 1, 2012 with a MSRP of $120 USD.
