Dallas campus began classes January 6
January 23, 2012, Birmingham, Ala. – Golf Academy of America (GAA), the largest and longest-running two-year golf career college in the world, has opened its doors in the north Dallas
“The Dallas area is the perfect location for our new campus,” said Mike Largent, president of Golf Academy of America. “We have established campuses near both coasts, but we needed to find an area that was logical to serve prospective students from the nation’s heartland. Dallas is one of the largest golf markets in the country and after our exhaustive research into our next campus location, Dallas was just a natural fit.”
The physical campus in Dallas is an 18,700 square foot facility with a 4,000 square foot indoor training center dedicated to golf instruction with technology including KVest, V1, Trackman, MEGSA, Dynamic Balance System, SAM Putt Lab, five hitting bays and golf simulators. The campus also houses a clubfitting and repair lab, five lecture rooms, computer lab, career services center, golf library and office space.
Greg Gossett, campus director for Dallas, sees the school growing to include several hundred students, just like the other four campuses, which serve more than 1,100 students combined. Gossett took the reigns at the Dallas campus after serving for seven years as academic dean at the Orlando campus.
“I am excited about building a successful culture here,” says Gossett. “We are the only golf career school in Texas, believe it or not, and we can be a life-changing influence to our students.”
An example of that life-changing aspiration for Dallas can already be found with 30-year-old David Hillary, a decorated military veteran who received the “Purple Heart” following his life-threatening accident in Iraq in 2007. He is pursuing his dream of becoming a PGA professional.
