Getting more golfers to play golf more often is a winner
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jan. 16, 2012) The National Golf Course Owners Association announced the 2012 award winners to be recognized at the golf industry Conference’s Celebration Dinner & Awards event on February 29, Las Vegas. The Michigan Golf Course Owners Association’s Golf League Championship (MI GLC) takes the honor for Player Development.
Since its first full year of operation, the MI GLC has grown exponentially. 2012 will see the 8th Annual Golf League Championship, the “Championship for Everyone”. It is expected that over 10,000 golfers in the state of Michigan will participate in the league management system; the tournament will host 144 “league champions” from all corners of the state.
Any golf course in the state can utilize this feature-rich program, with MGCOA member courses receiving special benefits. The MI GLC is for any golf league, male, female or mixed, student or senior. “This is the simplest, quickest, most accurate and affordable way to manage golf leagues. I have played in and helped manage golf leagues for over thirty years and this systems works. The golf course owner and the golf league player get up-to-date information, statistics, schedule, standings, news, pairings, handicaps, and too much more to mention,” says Jeff Hoag, Scott Lake Country Club, Comstock Park (Owner / League Admin / League Golfer).
Leagues can be of any combination of players. The Michigan “Golf League Championship” is an exclusive product of the MGCOA.
The NGCOA’s Player Development Award rewards programs that tap into the passion, knowledge, and creativity of golf course operators around the country, thereby stimulating an exchange of proven steps that can be taken to develop new golfers and new rounds. The award recognizes the best on-going program that overcomes the non-golfer’s perceived barriers to playing golf such as: time, cost and intimidation and is presented programs that demonstrate creativity and success in growing the game.
The National Golf Course Owners Association is the leading authority on the business of golf course ownership and management. The Association represents the key decision makers with ultimate responsibility for golf courses throughout the world. Through advocacy, information resources, purchasing programs and networking opportunities, the NGCOA helps golf course owners and operators run more successful businesses.
