The First Tee of The Palm Beaches designated as event beneficiary
New York, NY – February 6, 2012 – The Family Golf Challenge, a new skills competition for families, will be staged in conjunction with The Honda Classic at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, March 1- 4. A long drive and putting challenge will be featured on the grounds during tournament play and 33% of all entry-fee revenue generated will be donated to The First Tee of The Palm Beaches.
The Family Golf Challenge is an amateur skills competition designed to engage families in a sports and leisure-time activity which bonds the family unit in a fun, rewarding and philanthropic experience. The competition is open for participation to two-member teams comprised of Adults and Juniors, as well as, Male and Female Singles in age groups (7-11), (12-14) and an “Open” 15+ category. The best team and single in seventeen (17) total categories will win prizes.

According to Carl Mistretta, Executive Director of The First Tee of The Palm Beaches, “We enjoy interacting with the spectators, providing a fun contest and raising money for our local chapter. Now that we have partnered with The Family Golf Challenge as the Official Charity, our spectators will experience an enhanced contest and compete for upgraded prizes.”
The entry-fee to compete is $10.00 per team / per challenge (same for the singles division) with a 33% donation going towards The First Tee of The Palm Beaches. Re-entries are $5.00 for each challenge and competitors can re-enter as many times as they want over the course of the tournament.
As part of each entry-fee, all contests will automatically be entered into a raffle featuring a 300 square foot, synthetic putting green from Southwest Greens which will be installed at the winners’ home. The category winners from the long drive and putting challenges will be announced on Sunday, March 4.
