NORTHBROOK, Ill., Feb. 8, 2012 – KemperSports, a leading golf course management company, announced today that it has been selected by the Petrungaro family to manage Fox Lake Country Club, an 18-hole daily fee golf course located in Fox Lake, Ill. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Fox River Chain of Lakes, Fox Lake Country Club has been ranked numerous times as one of the top 50 courses in Illinois.

The Petrungaro family has owned and operated Fox Lake Country Club since 1983, when Gino Petrungaro bought the course from Leisure Technology. An architect by trade and involved in real estate investment, Petrungaro welcomed the challenge to own a golf course. Throughout his 28 years of ownership, Gino Petrungaro has transformed Fox Lake Country Club into one of northern Illinois’ premier golf courses. The Petrungaro family has now decided to take Fox Lake Country Club to the next level within the golf course community.

Built in 1925, Fox Lake Country Club was originally designed by Harry Hall King and opened as a private club. The course was later redesigned in 1973 by the prolific Chicago-based golf course architects Ken Killian and Dick Nugent, the team best known for its design of Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Ill. Fox Lake Country Club features an 18-hole parkland-style golf course that stretches 6,400 yards and offers a par 72 layout with bent grass greens and tree-lined bluegrass fairways.
The property’s golf shop is currently being renovated. This renovation will improve the golf check-in process, improve the offerings for customers and expand the food and beverage service.
