Stafford, VA – A Virginian by birth, Anthony was born in Charlottesville to Dr. Lewis and Nancy Romano who were the greatest influences and supporters of his decision to play golf. After tasting success with the Country Side Golf Club Junior Hall of Fame Championship Team, Anthony went on to be a part of the winning Virginia State High School League State Championship Team from North Side High School. He continued in competitive golf following high school becoming a two-year letter winner at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina before transferring to Roanoke College to focus on his education.
With a degree in Business Administration from Roanoke College, Anthony did not immediately enter into a golf career. His first job out of college was for Summit Helicopters as a Contracts Manager. However, Anthony’s love of golf would bring him back and after making a move to Maryland, he decided to make golf his profession. As a PGA apprentice, Anthony was fortunate to work under great PGA Professionals like John Francisco, Hank Majewski and John Albert. He then landed his current position as an Assistant Professional at Piney Branch Golf Club in Hampstead, Maryland where he offers golf instruction and leads the Junior Golf activities. Anthony has also taken the reins as President of the Junior Interclub of Baltimore.
Along with his dedication to the Baltimore Interclub, Anthony is also credited with starting the Junior Interclub of Baltimore Scholarship, which awards up to two $500.00 scholarships for a male and female student. He is also very giving of his time as displayed in 2011 when he volunteered at the Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play in Washington, DC. He, along with many other MAPGA golf professionals gave their time to promote golf through the Play Golf America campaign of the PGA of America. Through his tireless efforts of raising extra funds through donations, finding tournament sites, and communicating with all those involved, Anthony has displayed the enthusiasm and leadership of a true junior golf leader.
