LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 27, 2012) – Global Golf Advisors’ Steve Johnston and Henry DeLozier will present “The Business of Golf … Why the Superintendent Is So Important” at the 2012 Golf Industry Show. The seminar, which is part of the GCSAA’s education track, is scheduled for Tuesday, from 1-5 p.m., at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The session is designed to help superintendents understand key performance metrics that guide the success of their facilities.
“The old school of thought said that the superintendent should care for the grass; the new school of thought says that the superintendent has responsibility for the intrinsic value of the entire facility,” said DeLozier, a principal in the Toronto-based firm that is the golf industry’s leading authority on successful course ownership and management practices, club lifestyle enhancement and member facilitation.
“That added responsibility makes it critical that today’s superintendents demonstrate a business-minded approach to the operation of their facilities,” DeLozier added.
Superintendents attending the session will gain a keener understanding of why driving revenues trumps cost-cutting in today’s economic environment, how the performance of each functional area affects the facility’s bottom line and how knowledge of the facility’s overall budget can make them more successful. The session awards 0.35 education points to attendees.
