Ponte Vedra Beach, FL – At a Board of Directors meeting this morning, CEO and Chairman Kristin McLauchlan announced that Legacy Trust Family Wealth Offices will sponsor LPGA tour player and Jacksonville native, Amelia Lewis. As a student at the Bolles School, (Jacksonville, FL) Amelia was a three-time All-First Coast Player of the Year (2006, 2007, 2008) and the 2009 Florida First Coast Scholar Athlete. Amelia amassed more than 50 junior, amateur and professional titles, including the prestigious 107th North and South Women’s Amateur at Pinehurst (2009). She climbed to a number three ranking the Golfweek Women’s Amateur golf rankings and stayed there for more than nine months, before turning professional in April 2010 at age 19. Amelia also attended the University of Florida before turning pro. In her rookie campaign last season, playing in only eight events, she retained her LPGA Card. Earlier in January she also qualified for the Ladies European Tour (LET) by finishing 16th in the qualifying tournament. Earlier in February of this year, in her first official-money LET event, Lewis finished 22nd overall and was the top American in the LET’s Australian Masters. In the tournament’s second round she posted her career low round at eight under par.
The relationship between Ms. Lewis and Legacy Trust is unique in that it will focus mostly on Lewis’ ability to help Legacy Trust build relationships with clients and prospects as an ambassador for the firm. Typically, a relationship with a professional athlete focuses on media exposure. While Ms. Lewis will sport a Legacy Trust logo on her left sleeve during all playing and promotional opportunities, the main focus of this sponsorship is client entertainment.
Said McLauchlan, who herself played college golf at the University of Michigan and still carries a single-digit handicap, “I see in Amelia not only a player with a great history of winning, and not only a rising star in the professional ranks, but a young woman who can represent the values of our company. She is a good person, a hard worker and goal-driven. These are the things we want our employees, our clients and the community to see in our company and we think Amelia can successfully help us project that image.”

Legacy Trust Family Wealth Offices of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL is a boutique wealth management firm focusing on the preservation of generational wealth. The largest independent firm of its kind in Florida, Legacy Trust provides discerning families and foundations with an alternative to the standard services offered by institutional bank and brokerages. Legacy Trust offers its clients full concierge financial oversight and generational wealth management that includes estate planning, investment management, tax strategies and trustee services.
In a recent survey of Legacy Trust’s clients, golf rated the highest among activities in which they participate and sports to which they pay attention, so sponsoring Lewis fit Legacy Trust’s client profile. Said Mark Berman, who’s company MediaShare Consulting Group represents Legacy Trust and brokered the relationship, “Amelia is a local girl with strong ties to the community. She is an up and comer. She has a high family-, work- and moral-ethic. She is an elite-level athlete and Legacy Trust serves elite-level families. Amelia and Legacy Trust share very similar brand DNA, and we felt strongly from the beginning of the fit.”
Ms. Lewis will participate at Legacy Trust golf outings and clinics, attend special events as a guest or host, and, when possible, even take Legacy Trust clients inside the ropes of tournaments. Legacy Trust will feature a link on their website where clients can go to follow Amelia’s progress. They will also tie into Amelia’s website and her social media endeavors.
No stranger to the golf business, Legacy Trust has recently committed to its third straight year as the “Official Wealth Management Firm” of the Nationwide Tour’s Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open, however, sponsoring a player is new to the firm. “What really made us comfortable with Amelia is recognizing how similar her values are to those of our firm and to our clients,” added McLauchlan. She continued, “Sponsoring an athlete is uncharted territory for us. We’re putting her in front of our clients – people who have been successful in their own fields for their entire lives – and our player has to handle the role of ambassador for us. Even at 20, Amelia has demonstrated she is that player. Our business is about relationships and Amelia can help us strengthen the bond between us and our client families.”
