GolfTEC Improvement Centers in Tampa continue to innovate, taking the world’s best golf instruction to the next level
Tampa, Fla. (March 5, 2012) – There are five GolfTEC Improvement Centers in greater Tampa, currently working with more than 1,000 clients and providing well more than 21,000 lessons a year. But ask any of the 14 Coaches in those centers the most common question they are asked and they will give the same response:
“How do I take my game from the practice range to the course?”
To answer that question-and offer lessons that lead to lower scores instead of just a prettier swing-the GolfTEC centers in Tampa have taken what is already the most successful and most innovative golf instruction in the world and advanced it to the next level.
While the rest of the golf world has been retreating and retrenching, GolfTEC has been investing, putting both money and human capital into improving its teaching methods and results. So both new and returning Tampa-area students will find a host of new enhancements in local GolfTEC centers.
This spring, Tampa will be among the first locations to unveil the newest version of g-SWING, GolfTEC’s coaching software. The patented, proprietary combination of real-time video and motion measurement now measures 24 different aspects of the golf swing, a 300% increase in data over the previous version. The new software also includes a unique swing graphing function that charts range of motion and speed of all 24 variables, providing even more meaningful visual feedback.
“But golfers don’t want to just swing better, they want to play better,” says Mark Nixon, Regional Developer and President of GolfTEC-Tampa. “We have refined and elevated the methods of our ‘Proven Path’ approach so it isn’t just about the swing but also includes on-course play, practice, even equipment.”
Unique to the five Tampa centers is a system called “360 Coaching,” which focuses on helping students transfer the skills they learn in GolfTEC’s indoor hitting bays to the golf course. The program combines coaching, goal setting, practice, on-course analysis, and motivational tools.
GolfTEC-Tampa has made a major capital investment in Foresight Golf Simulators, which support the GolfTEC mission of “taking your game to the course” by offering flight-path feedback, short-game challenges, and on-course situations indoors. The local centers also have partnered with area courses, where coaches give on-course playing lessons.
“We could have rested on our laurels,” says Nixon, “but we remained aggressive and attacked ourselves, trying to make our teaching even better. And when our teaching is better, our students get better. That’s our ultimate goal.”
