Caledonia Golf and Fish Club leads Golfweek annual rankings for the Myrtle Beach area
March 9, 2012, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Caledonia Golf and Fish Club again heads the list of nine golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area that were selected among the top 15 “Best You Can Play” in South Carolina by Golfweek, a weekly trade publication for avid golfers.
Caledonia was ranked third behind the Ocean Course at Kiawah and Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head. Caledonia was also rated third in the state in 2011.
Five other Myrtle Beach area courses also gained Top-10 honors, including The Dunes Golf and Beach Club at fifth, True Blue Golf Plantation (Caledonia’s sister course) at sixth, Tidewater Golf Club at seventh, TPC Myrtle Beach at eighth and Barefoot Resort’s (Love Course) at ninth.
“We are honored to again be one of the courses selected in the Myrtle Beach area,” said Todd Welden, director of golf at Caledonia. “The depth of the great courses in this area is apparent from this ranking. And with more than 90 courses to choose from on the Grand Strand it is clear why Myrtle Beach has been a leader in golf destination travel for more than 20 years.
“On behalf of everyone at Caledonia and True Blue, we extend an invitation for golfers to come visit when you’re in the area.”
Caledonia, True Blue and TPC Myrtle Beach are included within the 12-course Waccamaw Golf Trail on the southern end of the Myrtle Beach area. For information on the Waccamaw Trail, visit www.waccamawtrail.com
Three more Myrtle Beach courses were listed between 11th and 15th. Barefoot Resort’s (Fazio Course) was 11th, The Legends Golf and Resort (Heathland Course) was 12th and the Resort Club at Grande Dunes Golf Club was 14th.
Six of the nine courses honored in the Myrtle Beach area are clients of The Brandon Agency, which represents more than 30 courses in the area.
The majority of the rankings didn’t change from 2011, but True Blue jumped a spot from a year ago.
