Aubrey McCormick will play the Dixon Earth ball on the popular Golf Channel reality show The Big Break: Atlantis
TEMPE, ARIZ., March 13, 2012 – Dixon Golf staff professional Aubrey McCormick has been selected to participate in the 2012 iteration of Golf Channel’s popular reality series, The Big Break.
This year the competition takes place on Atlantis, Paradise Island, The Bahamas. The Big Break: Atlantis will feature 12 women on their quest to earn their ‘big break’ by competing in various skills competitions. McCormick will be the first player in The Big Break’s 17 seasons to use Dixon Golf balls.
“I’ve always been very environmentally conscious. When I heard about the Dixon brand, I was interested in how they played. When I played the ball, I got really excited because it played so well,” says McCormick
“We’re so excited for Aubrey and for Dixon Golf. Because of Aubrey, our golf balls will be seen by the millions of folks who watch The Big Break. We wish her the best of luck as she chases her dream,” William Carey, CEO of Dixon Golf, says.
Aubrey has followed a different path from most on her way to The Big Break: Atlantis. She picked up her first golf club when she was 17, an advanced age for beginners. After graduating from Missouri State in 2006, she turned pro and honed her skills. She had played on a few mini-tours with mixed success, until she got burned out and took a job in Washington, D.C.
“I just wanted to do something I believed in, and not think about golf for a while. I found a rewarding career and met some terrific people, but golf kept calling,” says McCormick.
She applied for an audition on a whim, not knowing it would lead to her being one of 12 women featured on the popular reality show. She is the personification of her “believe to achieve” mentality.
The contestants were announced yesterday; the show will air on The Golf Channel at 9 p.m. May 14, 2012.
