MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Project X Black, the newest addition to the tour-proven Project X family, provided power, accuracy and the win at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Miami this weekend.
Playing Project X Black in this driver and Project X Black Tour Issue Seventy in his 3-wood, the champion powered through blustering winds on Sunday to shoot a final-round 70 and come from three strokes behind. He benefited from outstanding wood play, shooting 11-under on the par 5s at Doral.
“The immediate success of the Project X Black on both the PGA and European Tours has really put the spotlight on the new technology that makes this shaft so unique,” says Don Brown, product development manager and designer of the new Project X Black shaft. “The Project X Black incorporates TeXtreme® and Dual Torsional Control technology to create unmatched torsional integrity. The Project X Black the most stable lightweight composite shaft ever created and it’s a real game changer.”
TeXtreme is a revolutionary carbon material that that allows Project X engineers to eliminate weight in the new Project X Black shaft compared to the original design, while maintaining the low torque, low spin properties that established Project X as the standard for all high-performance composite shafts. The Dual Torsional Control pairs TeXtreme on the outermost layer of the shaft with super-high modulus torsional plies inside to reduce dynamic shaft twisting by as much as 25 percent compared to traditional designs.
The WGC event marked the second 2012 win for the new Project X Black shafts which opened the season with a victory at the Africa Open on the European Tour. Across the Caribbean at the Puerto Rico Open the winner also trusted Project X graphite in his driver for his second career PGA tour victory.
