BEAVERTON, Ore. – Leupold’s® GX® continues to be the only rangefinder endorsed by the Professional Tour Caddies of America (PTCA) association.
The PTCA, which first endorsed GX rangefinders in 2009, is the official association of PGA TOUR caddies. Its endorsement of GX was renewed effective March 1, 2012.
Since 2009, caddies using the GX to prepare for tournaments have been involved in more than 50 PGA TOUR victories including three Major Championships.
“Many professional caddies on the PGA TOUR have committed to use GX rangefinders in practice rounds and other preparations for tournament play,” said Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “The caddies as well as PGA TOUR professionals and golfers of all skill levels have found that the advanced technology and performance of GX give them the most precise, personalized range on the course.”
Leupold’s 2012 golf rangefinder line features new GX-3i and GX-4i models with DNA™ (Digitally eNhanced Accuracy) engine technology, and an infrared laser for instant measurements and accuracy to within six inches of the flagstick or other targets. With both models, accuracy is displayed to the nearest 1/10th of a yard. Maximum ranging distance is 800 yards.
Other models include the GX-1, which provides tournament-legal line-of-sight measurement, and GX-2, which is loaded with advanced smart technology such as Leupold’s True Golf Range™ (TGR®) and Club Selector™ features. The tournament-legal GX-3i is the most compact model in the series, weighing less than 8 ounces. GX-4i offers enhanced versatility with a removable Smart Key™ that adds the benefits of TGR and Club Selector only as needed. TGR and Club Selector provide accurate ranging information matched to the slope of the shot, atmospheric conditions and a golfer’s personal hitting strength.
Key features common to all models include Prism Lock Technology™ and fog mode. When GX is in scan mode, Prism Lock Technology makes an audible beep upon identifying a high-intensity return from flagsticks equipped with specialized prisms, which are utilized by many golf courses around the country. With Prism Lock Technology, holding the rangefinder steady becomes less of a concern, and exact distance measurement is assured. Fog mode enables GX to cut through mist and provide fast, accurate distance measurements.
