‘The hottest shafts in golf’ dominates wood shaft manufacturer count by 34, hybrid count by 7
POWAY, Calif. – Heading into the four-man sudden-death playoff at the Transitions Championship Sunday, the odds of the winner playing an Aldila shaft was pretty favorable with three of the four players playing Aldila. The winner, who birdied the first playoff hole, was playing Aldila’s NV® and the other two players were playing Aldila’s DVS™ and RIP®.
With the win, the Transitions Champ captured his 5th PGA Tour victory and regained the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Led by their most popular shaft the RIP, “The Hottest Shafts In Golf” dominated to wood shaft manufacturer counts at the Transitions Championship by having 34 more wood shafts in play then their next leading competitor, according to the Darrell Survey. Aldila (www.aldila.com) also had seven more hybrid shafts in play than the next leading shaft manufacturer. Aldila has won the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts in 12 of 13 PGA Tour events this season.
Aldila’s Tour proven RIP (Reverse Interlaminar Placement) Technology provides a shaft design with optimum flex and torque characteristics with increased cross-sectional stability throughout the tip area for greater shot control.
“When designing the RIP®, Aldila completely turned golf shaft design and performance inside out through the use of computer modeling technology and exclusive carbon fiber materials,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager.
Aldila’s RIP series features five different shafts to help meet the needs of a variety of players. The RIP Alpha, RIP Beta, RIP Gamma, RIP’d NV and RIP Phenom. Aldila now has RIP iron shafts in research and development. One of the Top 10 finishers at the Transitions Championship was playing their R&D RIP Iron.
The RIP Alpha is a tip-stiff, low-to-mid launch with low spin and is the original shaft with lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness. The RIP Beta version has a slightly softer tip flex for mid launch, the RIP Gamma has the same launch characteristics as the original Alpha with a higher balance point for use with heavier heads to achieve a conventional swing weight.
The RIP’d NV incorporates the best performance attributes from two of Aldila’s most innovative shaft designs — the ‘perfect feel’ and slim, stable shaft profile of the Aldila NV® and the unprecedented control and accuracy of the Aldila RIP®. The Aldila NV, featuring Micro Laminate technology (MLT®), is the most popular aftermarket shaft in history.
The RIP Phenom incorporates RIP Technology™ with a unique composite construction to create a new and innovative shaft flex profile for maximum distance and control – the Hyperbolic Flex Zone™. RIP Technology repositions the materials and patterns to optimize the performance characteristics of the shaft. The Phenom’s Hyperbolic Flex Zone provides a stiff tip section for optimal launch and spin control, with a very firm butt section for an incredibly stable feel. The center section of the shaft is softer to provide outstanding kick through impact to maximize ball speed.
Aldila catapults power to an unprecedented level. High performance technology harnessed and perfected from a special blend of materials, design and expertise. They are continually on the leading edge of the golf world through their relentless pursuit of the next best innovation. They do the experimenting so you don’t have to. Pushing success to the edge and redefining how power should feel. Are you playing Aldila, or just graphite?
