REDLANDS, CA. – Stockton Golf (www.DaveStockton.com) announced today that coverage of the 5th Annual Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge, held at the Victoria Club in Riverside, CA on March 12th , will air tonight, Tuesday, March 20th at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) and again on Wednesday, March 21st at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) on The Golf Channel. The event will be featured on the Champions Tour Learning Center.
Over the past five years, the Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge has raised over $3.5 million for Southern California charities and has become the largest charity golf event in the region.
One of the highlights of this year’s Tournament was the Welcoming Ceremony which included world renowned 9/11 “Singing Policeman” Daniel Rodriguez, and six Medal of Honor Recipients. The “Heroes Challenge” brought together thirteen of Dave Stockton’s PGA Tour friends including legendary PGA and Champions Tour Player, Lee Trevino, the Golf Channel’s Gary McCord and LPGA Tour star Morgan Pressel.
Five years ago, Stater Bros. Markets Chairman and Chief Executive Office, Jack H. Brown partnered with long-time friend and PGA Champions Tour Pro, Dave Stockton to launch a vision that has since helped countless charities, causes and community members. Both Brown and Stockton were born and raised in San Bernardino, CA and because of their close ties to the community felt a great desire to give something back.

Stockton’s resume in golf makes him one of the most accomplished PGA Tour Professionals in history, and his status as a local hero makes him the ideal Honorary Tournament Chairman for the Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge. Stockton turned professional in 1964 accruing 25 wins in over 40 years on Tour including 5 majors. He also achieved victory as Captain of the 1991 Ryder Cup Team at Kiawah and as Assistant Captain to Paul Azinger and the 2008 victorious Ryder Cup Team at Valhalla. In October of 2010, Dave Stockton was inducted into the Southern California Golf Association Hall of Fame. Stockton has recently gained attention as a short game guru along with sons Ron and Dave Stockton Jr. He has worked with notable players such as Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, J.B. Holmes, and Suzann Pettersen.
