Compass Pointe, Eisenhower Golf Courses Celebrate Military Appreciation Week

March 21, 2012

(VIENNA, VA) – Compass Pointe and Eisenhower golf courses – owned by Anne Arundel County and managed by Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – will celebrate Military Appreciation Week from Monday, April 9 through Sunday, April 15 with reduced greens fees for active and retired members of all branches of the Armed Services.

Members of the military can play 18 holes at either Compass Pointe (Pasadena, MD) or Eisenhower (Crownsville, MD) for $25 (greens fees, cart and lunch) Monday through Friday and $35 (greens fees, cart, lunch) Saturday and Sunday during Military Appreciation Week. In addition, both courses will conduct long drive, closest-to-the-pin and putting contests daily.

“The Naval Academy and Fort Meade, among other installations, give Anne Arundel County a strong military tradition,” says Mike Senneca, General Manager of Compass Pointe. “The reduced rates allow us to give back to the men and women in uniform who serve this country.”

Gracefully routed through 800 acres of Maryland countryside, Compass Pointe Golf Courses – designed by award-winning architect Lindsay Ervin – offer players a wide variety of terrain throughout 36 holes of championship-caliber golf, including the links-style North/East combination and the tree-lined, parkland-style South/West pairing.

Both courses feature bent-grass from tee to green and the putting surfaces roll smooth and true. While the layouts may be demanding at times, lies from the fairway and around the green allow players every opportunity to make well-executed shots.

Compass Pointe offers a spacious practice putting green and a driving range with both natural grass and mat hitting bays. The Compass Pointe Golf Academy opened in spring 2008 with an extensive player-development program featuring a wide variety of custom instruction for players of all skill levels.

The property houses a full-service golf shop, grille, two pavilions and a new outdoor patio for any size event or corporate outing.

Golfers have long enjoyed playing Eisenhower Golf Course, Anne Arundel County’s first public operation. Since Eisenhower’s opening in 1969, the 6,659-yard layout has provided fun and challenging golf experiences for tens of thousands of area golfers. Crafted by renowned architect Ed Ault from more than 220 acres of splendidly wooded landscape, Eisenhower’s meandering topography takes golfers through forested land, around a lake and alongside numerous creeks and swales. Eisenhower boasts well-manicured greens and plush fairways.
